Beta Testing at GizmoLab

To high quality software and happy customers!

These web pages are here to answer questions about and generally support the beta testing process.

GizmoLab is a very small operation, which makes it possible to charge quite a bit less for Design Intuition than is typical for CAD programs. By helping out with beta testing, you are also helping keep the price down.

How long does beta testing last?

Our strategy is to make frequent updates available -- to create excitement and enjoyment. Consequently, beta testing is short and intense, typically lasting a month. If you're on the mailing list when a beta testing period begins, and you have the time to participate, we welcome your feedback regarding any aspect of the feature being developed. Of course, if you don't have the time, we completely understand. Please don't feel obligated to perform.

Just exactly what is beta testing?

The idea is to try everything Design Intuition was designed to do, and things it wasn't, exposing weaknesses and problems. Report anything that doesn't seem right. In particular, crashing bugs, major annoyances and recently added features are the most important. To report a bug, please follow these instructions.

As to any suggestions you care to offer: Please feel free to suggest and request anything that comes to mind. It's a simple reality that significant new features and massive changes to existing ones, are probably beyond our resources during beta testing. So, please don't mind if your favorite idea is marked for development later.

Detailed reports are the most valuable. Toward this end, I've written some guidelines.

Can you give me any instructions?

1. Please download the latest version of Design Intuition.
2. Please review the beta testing guidelines.
3. Please try designing something with Design Intuition.
4. If you have time for it, please look over as much of the website, particularly the user reference manual and tutorials.

Feel free to report any questions about any problems you encounter, especially those that are show stoppers for you.
